A crossbody carries differently from a backpack and it sets the sensible load. Two shoulder straps split the weight in half and keep it against the spine; one diagonal strap puts all of it on one shoulder and lets the bag swing. That is comfortable with a phone, a purse and keys in it and stops being comfortable well before the compartment is full — so the limit here is the strap, not the space.

White plush is the least forgiving surface in a bag. Dust settles into the nap and a mark rubbed hard enough to lift will mat the fibres around it, which shows more than the mark did. This is one to keep off floors and pub tables rather than one to clean afterwards.

Check the strap length against how you intend to wear it. A strap cut for over-the-shoulder use sits high across the chest on a taller wearer and near the hip on a shorter one, and on a bag with a fixed strap that is not adjustable afterwards.

Being unstructured, it slumps when empty and hangs long when loaded rather than holding an open shape. Judge the capacity on the compartment rather than the overall size, since the head and any filled sections hold nothing.

Styling

There is no discreet way to carry this and no reason to want one. It is a statement piece that suits a casual outfit and sits oddly with anything tailored, and it reads better as an everyday small bag or a desk object than as an occasion bag. As a gift it works for someone whose sense of humour you are sure of.

Care

Surface clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent, working with the pile rather than against it, then air dry away from radiators. Do not machine wash — an unstructured plush bag stretches under its own water weight, and the strap join is the point that takes the strain when it does.
