£10.99

A wooden skipping rope with pink-painted handles and a braided pink and black cotton rope, printed with a rabbit in a dress holding a strawberry on both handles. Specifications

  • Handles: wood painted pink over the full length (species not published by the maker)
  • Rope: braided cotton, pink and black
  • Rope length: 2.7 m excluding handles, adjustable shorter
  • Suitable for: users up to 1.8 m tall (stated by maker)
  • Design: rabbit in a dress holding a strawberry, printed on both handles
  • Age grading: from 3 years (maker’s own grading)

Design

  • Handles painted pink from top to bottom — the colour runs the full length rather than being a band over bare wood
  • Rabbit in a dress holding a strawberry printed on the outer face of both handles, facing forward whichever way the rope is held
  • A band of spots around the base of each handle, picking up the rope colour
  • Rounded ball head on each handle where the rope passes through — stops the handle slipping from a small hand
  • Braided cotton rope in pink and black — softer on the legs than plastic or wire if the rope catches
  • Rope adjusts by pulling through the handle and re-knotting — one rope lasts several years of growth

Size Guide

Handle length
Weight

2.7 m is the maximum rope length excluding the handles. Shorten by pulling the rope through the handle and re-knotting before first use — a rope set to the child’s height is easier to skip with than one that is too long. Handle length and weight are not published by the maker.

Safety

  • Maker grades from 3 years; not suitable for a child under 3
  • A skipping rope is a length of cord — never place around a neck; supervise until the child can handle it confidently
  • The wooden ball heads are hard and swing at speed — skipping needs clear space away from other children, furniture, and faces
  • Request an EN 71 report before selling — EN 71-3 governs migration of elements from paint; these handles are fully painted rather than banded, so the paint contact area is larger than on bare-wood handles
  • Check the knot inside each handle before every use
  • Set the rope length to the child before first use; a rope that is too long trips more easily than one that is correctly sized

Care

  • Wipe handles with a barely damp cloth and dry immediately — do not soak; wood swells and painted surfaces lift
  • Wash the cotton rope by hand in cool water; untie from the handles first
  • Air dry fully away from direct heat
  • Store coiled rather than knotted

Use

  • A first skipping rope for a child learning timing rather than counting jumps
  • Adjustable so one rope covers several years of growth
  • Part of a range of ten designs — a class or party group can each have a different one

What’s included: one skipping rope in the strawberry rabbit design. No spare rope, gift bag, tube, or box included. Other designs in the range are sold separately.
