Design

  • Turned beech handles left bare along most of their length, with a printed band of red spots at the open end carrying the zebra illustration
  • Round wooden ball where the rope enters each handle, painted red — weights the handle and prevents it slipping from a small hand
  • Braided cotton rope lands softly if it catches a leg, unlike plastic or wire alternatives
  • Rope, ball ends, printed band, and tube lid are all in the same red
  • Rope length adjusts by pulling through the handle and re-knotting — the same rope works from first attempts through to school-age skipping
  • Kraft card tube with the zebra illustration on the side and lid — presentation-ready without additional wrapping

Size Guide

Part Measurement
Handle length 12 cm / 4.7 in
Ball end diameter 3.5 cm / 1.4 in
Rope length (max) 3 m solo / 5 m group
Weight 0.2 kg (3 m) / 0.3 kg (5 m)
Tube (packaging) 15 × 10 × 10 cm

The stated rope length is the maximum. Shorten by pulling the rope through the handle and re-knotting. The 5 m length is suitable for two adults turning while a child skips in the middle.

Safety

  • Maker grades from 3 years; not suitable for a child under 3
  • A skipping rope is a length of cord — never place around a neck; supervise until the child can handle it confidently
  • The wooden ball ends are hard and swing at speed — skipping needs clear space away from other children, furniture, and faces
  • Request an EN 71 report before selling — EN 71-3 governs migration of elements from the handle paint, which a child grips directly
  • The maker describes the paint as water-based; treat as a description, not a certification, until a test report is confirmed
  • Check the knot inside each handle before every use

Care

  • Wipe handles with a barely damp cloth and dry immediately — do not soak; wood swells and paint lifts
  • Wash the cotton rope by hand in cool water; untie from handles first
  • Air dry fully away from direct heat
  • Store coiled rather than knotted

Use

  • A first skipping rope for a child learning timing rather than counting jumps
  • The 5 m length allows two adults to turn while a child skips in the middle
  • Adjustable so one rope covers several years of growth
  • Presented in a tube that needs no additional wrapping for gifting

What’s included: one skipping rope in the zebra design, in its tube. Other animal designs are sold separately. Props shown in photography are not included.
