Opening

These are built for the floor. A baby on their front for tummy time has a narrow field of view and not much patience, and what extends it is a face to look at, a sound to turn towards and something within arm's reach. Each bundle pairs a soft animal with one or two of those.

Three animals — lamb, bunny and bear — and four accessories across the range: a soft mirror, a rattle, a rain stick and a wooden car. Which combination you get depends on the bundle you select.

What you get

The bundle you select and nothing beyond it. Each option names its contents in full, so one listed as doll and rattle holds those two items only. Check the option name against the gallery image before ordering, since the combinations sit close together.

Fabric and safety

These bundles contain more hard components than anything else in the range, and each one wants its own look.

• The mirror. Check the reflective surface is film or moulded rather than glass, and that the frame holds it with no lifting edge. A floor mirror takes more knocks than one anywhere else.
• The rain stick. It is a sealed tube with loose filling inside, so the seal is the whole safety of it. If either end shows a gap or a crack, retire it rather than taping it.
• The rattle and wooden car. Wheels, rings and anything that turns work loose first. Check them on arrival and every few weeks after.

The rain stick is worth choosing deliberately rather than by accident. A rattle is sharp and immediate; a rain stick is a slow shushing that runs on for several seconds after it is tipped, which is a quieter register to have in a room.

Intended for supervised use. The Lullaby Trust advises keeping the cot clear of loose items under twelve months, so this belongs to floor and daytime play.

Fit notes

The bundles differ in size and price, so read the option name rather than assuming. Some hold a comforter and an accessory, some hold accessories without the comforter, and the largest hold three pieces.

Tummy time is the use case, so the useful window opens when a baby can hold their head up and closes when they would rather be moving than looking.

Styling

Lamb is the most traditional of the three characters and bear the most neutral. Bunny has the longest ears, which are the easiest thing for a small hand to catch hold of. If you are buying as a gift and do not know what the parents own, a bundle with the mirror is the safer pick — it is the one item almost nobody has two of.

Care

Surface wash the fabric pieces with a damp cloth and mild detergent, and air dry away from radiators. Do not machine wash any bundle containing a mirror, a rain stick or a wooden piece. Wipe the wooden car and dry it straight away rather than leaving it damp.
