Opening

This is the plain one. No print, no rattle, no ring — a solid-colour bunny comforter with an open head that an adult hand fits inside. It exists for the nursery that already has enough going on, and for the parent who would rather the object in the pram not be the loudest thing in it.

The palette is the reason to choose it. Mustard, Ink Blue, Smoke Grey and Ivory are closer to the colours you would pick for a jumper than to the pastels this category usually runs to, which is what stops it looking like a toy left on a sofa. Khaki and Dark Khaki sit in the same register. Honey Pink is the only soft one.

Fabric and safety

Solid colour is not just an aesthetic choice here, and this is the practical case for it. A piece-dyed cloth carries colour through the yarn itself, so the corner that gets chewed and pulled the most wears to a paler version of the same shade. A printed cloth carries its colour on one face only, which is why prints go patchy at the edges first and why a well-used printed comforter starts showing white at the corners while a plain one simply fades. If this is going to be the one that gets used every day, plain lasts better looking.

The deeper shades — Ink Blue, Mustard, Dark Khaki — will lose a little depth over many washes, as any dark dye does. That is normal and even across the piece rather than patchy.

Intended for supervised use. The Lullaby Trust advises keeping the cot clear of loose items under twelve months, so this is for daytime and supervised play.

Fit notes

One size only, and small by design — enough to bunch inside a fist, not enough to cover a baby. If you want something to spread over a pram, this is not it.

The head is cut for an adult hand. A baby holds the body and the ears; the puppet function is for whoever is doing the entertaining. Allow around 1cm variance on the measurements.

Styling

This is the one to buy as a second comforter alongside a printed or textured piece, so there is a spare in rotation that does not clash with whatever else is in the pram. Ivory and Smoke Grey disappear into a neutral room. Mustard and Ink Blue are strong enough to be the only colour in an otherwise plain nursery, which is a different job from a pastel and a better one for a gift to parents whose taste runs quiet.

Care

Machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle with like colours. Wash Ink Blue, Mustard and Dark Khaki separately for the first two or three cycles, as deep shades release most of their loose dye early. Tumble dry low or dry flat. Do not bleach — on a solid colour, bleach marks show far more than they would on a print. Do not iron the head.
