A soft dog with round glasses and a camera

A cuddly dog with a shaggy coat, round wire-style glasses and a little camera slung round its neck. At roughly 45cm it is a proper armful - big enough to be a bedtime companion and characterful enough to sit on a shelf as part of the room.

The coat is a long, slightly tousled pile that sits somewhere between a terrier and a soft toy, and the face is embroidered rather than moulded, so it keeps the handmade look that makes this style work in a nursery rather than a toy box.

Fabric and filling

The outer is polyester plush with a longer pile than a standard soft toy, which is what gives the coat its scruffy, characterful look. The filling is polypropylene fibre - light for its volume, and it springs back into shape after being squashed rather than staying flat.

Size and weight

Measurements are approximate. Soft toys vary slightly depending on how the filling settles.

Where it works

A good size for the end of a bed, a nursery chair or a playroom shelf. Large enough to be noticed across a room, light enough for a small child to carry about.

Care

• Surface wash with a damp cloth and mild detergent
• Air dry away from direct heat and sunlight
• Do not bleach or tumble dry
• Brush the pile gently with a soft brush if it flattens

Safety

For supervised play. Keep soft items out of the cot while a baby is sleeping unattended, in line with Lullaby Trust safer sleep guidance. Check the seams from time to time and stop using it if anything works loose.
