Curled pile has a trade against flat plush and it runs both ways. It hides marks far better and does not crush into a permanent flat patch where the straps sit, which is the usual way a smooth plush bag starts looking tired. Against that, loops catch — on a rough coat, a velcro cuff, a bag hook under a table — and a pulled loop on a looped fabric shows more than a flattened one on a smooth fabric does.

So it ages better in ordinary use and worse if it gets snagged. Keep it away from anything with a hook or a hard fastening and it will outlast the flat-plush bags.

Fit notes

Check the strap arrangement in the gallery images before ordering. This style is made both as a two-strap backpack and as a single-strap shoulder bag, and the two wear very differently — a single strap puts the whole load on one side and lets the bag swing.

The snout and ears are filled and hold nothing, so judge the capacity on the compartment measurement rather than the overall size. A phone, a purse and keys are the realistic load.

Styling

Brown is the only colour offered and it suits the curled texture, which reads flatter and less convincing in a pale shade. This is a novelty piece rather than a neutral accessory, so it works with a casual outfit and sits oddly with anything tailored. Of the animal bags it is the one that looks least like a toy, since a curled coat reads closer to a real dog than a smooth plush does.

Care

Surface clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent, dabbing rather than rubbing, and air dry away from radiators. Rubbing is what pulls loops out of a curled pile. Do not machine wash — an unstructured plush bag stretches under its own water weight, and the strap joins take the strain when it does.
